Solar Solve Marine, the British manufacturer of ROLASOLV® marine approved fabric roller blinds has won a contract to supply 41 ROLASOLV® blackout blinds to Pearl River, the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger owned and operated by Dredging, Environmental & Marine Engineering (DEME) headquartered in Belgium.

Solar Solve have specialised in providing sun and glare protection to the marine and offshore industry for almost 30 years. ROLASOLV® fabric roller blinds are ideal for cabin windows and public area windows to provide shading from the sun. They are Type Approved by DNV-GL and have been successfully tested to meet the requirements of the mandatory IMO FTPC Part 7 A.563(14) Resolution – the flame test for vertically supported textiles and films. The fabrics also have BS5438 flame spread certification.

Pearl River was originally built in 1984 by IHC Smit Kinderdijk in Holland. It is 182 metres long, 28 metres in breadth and has a maximum load speed of 15 knots. During operation the vessel can dredge up to a maximum extended depth of 120 metres.

Paul Hopkins, Solar Solve’s Sales & Marketing Executive commented, “We are delighted to receive yet another significant order for our ROLASOLV® fabric blackout blinds. Their popularity is increasing as ship’s crews are finding them very effective at providing complete blackout night-time conditions inside their cabins, even during the daytime as they work shift patterns.”
