At the end of November, UK based Solar Solve Marine received an order to supply 12 SOLASOLV ® class approved roller screens to the Ben-My-Chree Ro-Pax ferry.

The vessel is owned and operated by Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and operates from Douglas to Heysham. Built by van der Giessen de Nord shipyard in the Netherlands at the cost of £24 million, the ship entered into service in 1998 and can carry 636 passengers and up to 200 vehicles.

SOLASOLV® anti-glare screens are installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide. They are regarded as an essential safety product, effectively rejecting up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun to significantly reduce eye-strain. Visual displays are easier to read and a clear outward view is maintained for safer navigation and marine operations. A more comfortable room temperature means the ships’ crew are less prone to fatigue which can cause human error. Suitable for newbuilds and retrofits, SOLASOLV® screens are guaranteed for 7 years and Type Approved by Lloyds, ABS and DNV-GL.

Paul Hopkins, Sales & Marketing Executive commented, “ SOLASOLV® screens have been used by this vessel for many, many years and this new order is to replace the existing screens which have served them well. The customer is very happy with the reliability and performance of SOLASOLV® sunscreens and intends to order more for their other ships in due course.”
