UK based Solar Solve Marine has just received an order to supply 30 SOLASOLV® class approved roller screens for the wheelhouse windows on the Bourbon Liberty, a dynamic positioning class II (DP II) platform supply vessel (PSV).
The state-of-the-art vessel is extremely manoeuvrable and capable of precise station keeping whilst in DP mode making operations safe and reliable. Unlike traditional platform supply vessels, the main engines are on the main deck level rather than below deck. This unique propulsion configuration allows 30% more below deck cargo capacity, and as a result, the vessel can carry the same amount of liquid products as a much larger vessel.
SOLASOLV® anti-glare screens are installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide. They are an essential safety product, effectively rejecting up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun. Eye-strain is significantly reduced ensuring visual displays are easier to read, and a clear outward view is maintained for safer navigation and marine operations. A more ambient room temperature means that the crew are less prone to fatigue which can lead to human error. Suitable for newbuilds and retrofits, SOLASOLV® screens are guaranteed for 7 years and Type Approved by Lloyds, ABS and DNV.
Paul Hopkins, Sales & Marketing Executive commented, “The vessel is operating in the Arabian Gulf so it has problems with the sun’s heat and glare. The SOLASOLV® brand complies with marine regulations and was specifically requested by the crew to help ease their uncomfortable working conditions”.
