Solar Solve Marine, the British manufacturer of SOLASOLV ® boat sun shades for navigation windows has won a contract to supply 26 SOLASAFE® boat sun shades to DMS Challenger III. The multi-purpose supply and utility vessel, managed by Topaz Marine is currently operating in the Middle-East.
DMS Challenger III is an ABS approved vessel and was built by Fuijan Mawi Shipbuilding in China. It is 57 metres long with a crew capacity of 50. It can reach a top speed of 12 knots and also has a Sormec telescopic boom crane installed on the deck port side to load items on and off the ship.
Paul Hopkins, Solar Solve’s Sales & Marketing Executive commented, “It was great news to receive this order to supply SOLASOLV® boat sun shades which required delivery to Qatar at the beginning of December . The crew ordered the boat sun shades to reduce glare and reflection on the navigation bridge whilst the vessel operates at sea, as the sun can be a real problem in the Middle-East region. ”
Solar Solve have specialised in providing sun and glare protection to the marine and offshore industry for almost 30 years and the company is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary year in business (1975 – 2015). The SOLASOLV® brand of boat sun shades is installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide. Regarded as essential safety equipment, the boat sun shades effectively reject up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun, significantly reducing eye-strain and fatigue, and improving outward visibility. SOLASAFE® boat sun shades are guaranteed for 7 years and the only boat sun shades in the world to be Type Approved by DNV-GL, Lloyds’ and ABS.
