Solar Solve Marine, the South Shields based manufacturer of SOLASOLV® anti-glare, heat rejecting sun screens for navigation bridge and control room windows, recently received an order from Anglo-Eastern in the UK for a new fleet of eight bulk carriers.

SOLASOLV® screens are installed at the windows of ships, rigs and cranes of all types and sizes worldwide. They reject up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun. Eye-strain is significantly reduced ensuring computer displays are easier to read, and a completely clear outward view is maintained for safer operations. With a more ambient room temperature the crew enjoy a comfortable working environment and are less prone to fatigue which can lead to human error. Suitable for newbuilds and retrofits, SOLASOLV® are the only sunscreens in the world to be Type Approved by Lloyds, ABS and DNV-GL.

To date Solar Solve have supplied four of the vessels, RTM Cartier, RTM Dampier, RTM Zheng He and RTM Cabot. The last of the vessels are currently being completed at HHIC Shipyard in the Philippines and the combined contract is worth £12,000 GBP.

Paul Hopkins, Solar Solve’s Sales and Marketing Executive commented, “ We are delighted that Anglo-Eastern, a long established customer, has confirmed the order for screens for a new fleet of bulk carriers that they are managing. The screens are normally supplied during the newbuild stage but in this case Anglo-Eastern decided to take delivery of the vessels first and then order the screens which have been delivered to ports around the world in advance of the vessels arrival.”
