On Wednesday, 11th December, we proudly visited the South Shields Mission to Seafarers to deliver our annual donation to this remarkable charity.
Each year, we encourage our customers to participate in an online feedback survey, pledging to donate £4 for every completed entry. At the end of the survey period, we always top up the total to ensure it’s a meaningful, rounded contribution.
The South Shields Mission provides a vital haven for seafarers visiting the port. These hardworking individuals, often at sea for months, can take a much-needed break from their ships. At the mission, they can relax, enjoy different food and refreshments, access books and computers, and even use free phone cards to connect with loved ones back home.
This essential support is made possible by a dedicated team who work tirelessly to improve the lives of the sailors we depend on for global shipping. Their efforts directly impact the industry that supports businesses like ours, and we’re honoured to give back to such a worthy cause.
This year, our donation totalled £500. For the photo opportunity, Lilly Spottiswood from Solar Solve presented a ceremonial cheque, although the actual funds were transferred online. The money will help provide a special Christmas lunch for current and former sailors visiting the mission later this month.
We’re grateful to everyone who completed our survey and helped make this donation possible. Together, we’re supporting the incredible work of the South Shields Mission to Seafarers and the invaluable seafarers who keep the shipping industry moving.
