The recently formed Aviation Division of Solar Solve Ltd was inaugurated with an order from Bournemouth Airport that was completed in super fast time, much to the delight of Mike Porto, Airside Engineering Manager, who said, “Thanks to your team for pulling out the stops to get this project achieved in such short notice.”
The contract involved removing some existing window blinds; measuring for 8 new electrically operated, remote controlled SOLASAFE screens almost 3 metres wide; installing and commissioning the new screens.
Because of the airports tight delivery requirements two Solar Solve Installation Technicians visited the site to measure the windows and informed the factory of the screen dimensions required. Whilst the screens were being manufactured in South Shields the technicians worked in Bournemouth removing the old blinds and fitted the brackets and components ready for the SOLASAFE screens, which arrived and were installed the next day.
Solar Solve Aviation is located within the Solar Solve Facility in the Port of Tyne, South Shields, UK and manufactures the SOLASOLV range of roller sunscreens for Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) windows that reject very high percentages of the sun’s glare, heat and uv light. They enable air traffic controllers to work in a safer and more comfortable environment with the associated benefits that brings.
John Lightfoot MBE, Solar Solve’s chairman and founder commented on this special achievement by saying, “When researching Bournemouth Airport, which is part of the Manchester Airports Group, I was not surprised to see that they have won a number of awards for Quality and Service. Our experience of working with Mike Porto, his colleagues and the air traffic controllers on duty during the installation confirm the fact that they are a dedicated group of people who are motivated by quality, service and cooperation. We thank them for this opportunity to be of service,”
Julie Lightfoot MBE, Solar Solve’s Managing Director commented, “We have been supplying exactly the same SOLASOLV product range for the navigation bridge windows on ships, very successfully for 24 years, as well as the occasional ATC tower for the past 10 years. It was a logical step for us to form this new division to focus on supplying the air services industry, where we intend to be just as successful.”
