UK based Solar Solve Marine has received a contract to supply 18 SOLASOLV ® roller screens for the Seven Discovery. The vessel is one of the most versatile diving vessels in today’s subsea engineering and construction market. It was built by N.V. Boelwerf S.A. in Belgium in 1990.
Solar Solve have specialised in providing sun and glare protection to the marine and offshore industry for almost 30 years, and the SOLASOLV® brand of anti-glare screen is installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide. Regarded as essential safety equipment, the screens effectively reject up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun, significantly reducing eye-strain and fatigue, and improving navigation visibility. SOLASAFE® screens are guaranteed for 7 years and Type Approved by DNV-GL, Lloyds’ and ABS.
Seven Discovery is 125m long with an 18-man twin bell saturation diving system and a 140 tonne main crane. With a total deck area of 1,200m 2, it also has accommodation for 97 personnel and a single ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle).
John Lightfoot, Chairman of Solar Solve commented, “It is another good order for us from a vessel working in the subsea market. Even though she is over 20 years old the investment that has been made in new equipment shows that the ship owner places great importance in the ship and crews safety.”
