On 30 July 2021, the new 24,000teu container ship, EVER ACE, built by Samsung Heavy Industries for Evergreen Marine Corporation of Taiwan, made her maiden voyage. It is the first of a series of 6 container ships ordered by Evergreen, from South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries and was officially delivered on 29 July 2021. The other 5 vessels will be delivered during 2021 and 2022, all with SOLASAFE marine window shades installed at the Navigation Bridge windows.
The ship will be put into the European high-quality route of Qingdao Port, Shandong, upgrading the capacity of the Ocean Alliance European routes to which Evergreen belongs, and at the same time adding more to Shandong Port to accelerate the construction of a world-class marine port.
The container capacity of EVER ACE reached 23,992 teu, surpassing HMM Algeciras (23,964 teu) which was delivered to the Korean operator HMM in 2020, and once again breaking the record as the world’s largest container ship.
John Lightfoot, MBE, Solar Solve Marine’s very proud chairman, commented, “As reported by us in a previous news release; in June last year, the world’s biggest container carrier, HMM Algeciras, arrived in Essex, from China, to drop off containers of imports and load containers of UK exports. There are SOLASAFE marine window shades installed at all 21 of the vessel’s Navigation Bridge windows.”
“Obviously, the whole team at our South Shields, UK facility, the only place in the world where SOLASAFE Type Approved marine window shades are manufactured, are delighted about the news that the new ‘Worlds Biggest Container Ship’ record-holder, EVER ACE, also has the world’s brand-leading SOLASAFE marine window shades installed at all of the vessel’s Navigation Bridge windows. This time there are 55 screens that will protect personnel on the Navigation Bridge from the glare, heat and harmful uv effects from the sun, when they are in use.”
The Solar Solve statement went on to say that throughout 2021, trade with South Korea continued to sail on with great success, in spite of the Covid-19 setbacks all people and organisations have had to endure globally. It was mainly due to their excellent World Wide Distributor based in Busan and the shrewdness of the amazingly successful employees that work in the gargantuan shipyards in South Korea.
After the delivery of EVER ACE, it is expected that Evergreen Marine will usher in some of the other class A container ships this year, all of which will be put into operation on the European line to successfully catch up with its high freight rate era.
