South Shields based Solar Solve Marine recently dispatched a consignment its Type Approved, SOLASAFE anti-glare roller sunscreens to customers in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.

The 2 sets of screens are destined for installation at the windows of the operator’s cabs of the cranes on two Offshore and Marine Platforms.

Offshore cranes are installed on drilling rigs, production platforms and wind energy farms and are designed and engineered to operate in the most severe weather conditions. The combination of specific technical solutions and advanced manufacturing ensures that the cranes are reliable and efficient.

John Lightfoot, MBE, chairman of Solar Solve commented, “The crane operators are consistently working in highly stressful situations to begin with, which are exacerbated during high sea swells and windy weather.”
“On bright sunny days, operators have the added distraction of glare to contend with and that is where Solar Solve’s remarkable SOLASAFE products are of great benefit. When in use, they reduce glare, infra-red radiation and uv light considerably, helping to create a more acceptable and safer working environment.”

For many years the Middle East has been one of Solar Solve’s major market sectors as it modernises and gets more industrialised, so that it can construct vessels and other offshore structures and machinery locally.
